The Matching Gift Campaign is one of the major yearly fund raising efforts for our Parish. It often nets the Parish between $15,000 and $25,000 yearly and has virtually no expenses. This income from the Campaign is absolutely critical to supporting our day-to-day Parish operations and is one of our largest Parish fundraising efforts.
As you know, the Campaign typically has “pledgers” who promise to make contributions provided that their pledge amount is also collected from other “donators”. We typically run the campaign between January and March each year. Donations are always tax deductible.
In 2024, the Campaign had 2 pledgers and 35 donators, and we raised $20,000! We understand that there are reasons why some Parishioners may prefer to donate to the Matching Gift Campaign BEFORE the end of a Calendar Year and BEFORE the official kick-off of the Campaign. We will gladly accept either a pledge or a donation BEFORE the end of the Calendar year and apply that contribution to the following year’s Matching Gift Campaign. The strong response to the STM Matching Gift Campaign in past years has been inspiring and any and all contributions are very much appreciated.
Your contributions can be anonymous or attributed to you – it is completely your decision. To contribute to the Matching Gift Campaign, please make a check out to "St. Thomas More Church" and write "Matching Gift Campaign" in the memo line. You can make a straightforward donation or make an additional pledge to encourage others to match your amount. You can put your check in an envelope and drop it in the offertory basket at a Mass or mail it to the Parish Office. If you would like to remain anonymous, you can indicate that on the check as well. All who donate $250 or more to the Matching Gift Campaign will receive a “Thank You” letter of appreciation from the Parish that also documents the tax deductible status of your donation. A contribution in ANY amount is welcomed and appreciated.
Some of you may be in a position to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to the Parish. A QCD is a non-taxable distribution made directly by the trustee of an IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) to an organization eligible to receive tax deductible contributions, such as STM. You must be at least age 701/2 years of age when a QCD distribution is made.
We will track the progress of the year’s Matching Gift Campaign, just as we have in previous years, posting our progress in the Church each week during the campaign. Please participate if you can and help us earn the full pledged amount. If you have any questions, please contact the Parish Office or contact Ron Marnicio, Chairman of the Parish Finance Council
THANK YOU!
