careforcreationMission Statement: Fueled by love and faith, we embrace our moral and spiritual responsibility to seek enduring ecological justice for all of God’s Creation, especially for the poor and the vulnerable.

Meeting Time and Place: Every other month (about 1½ hours) in the STM Parish Hall library

We welcome your participation, ideas, and requests, either as a member or an occasional volunteer on projects that inspire you. We understand that individual interests and available time vary. Major Activities to Date

  • Planning and implementation for World Environment Day and World Food Day/harvest liturgies
  • Compost and recycle programs at STM events such as student suppers and yard sale, including delivery of unsold items to non-profit organizations
    composting
  • Wetland restoration
  • Water stations at STM events 
  • Participation in Seacoast interfaith group  SISE [Seacoast Interfaith Stewards of the Environment]
  • Promotion of Fair Trade items
  • Project for K-5 Faith Formation Ministry and Blessing of the Animals on Feast of St. Francis

  • Liturgy collaboration for Feast of St. Kateri Tekakwitha
  • Promotion of local Farmers’ Markets
  • Nature walks in Seacoast area led by STM parishioner
  • Co-definition of environmental film series for local residents
    . series included "Bag It" about use and harm of plastic bags and "Just Eat It" about food waste in North America    
    . for those interested, the site Top Documentary Films offers free viewing of some environmental documentaries
